Recent Stuff : Images from eight days in Southern Utah and Northern Arizona. The focus of the trip was to shoot the fall colors in the canyons of Southern Utah and I got a couple of nice shots from some of those hikes. Some of my favorite stuff from this trip was fro some quick roadside stops that I made along the way - especially for some experimenting with star photography.

Best of 2008 : I tried to make it a top 10 list but I could only narrow it down to 12...it's my site and I can do whatever I want! Click the slideshow button on the right and sit back to view them in order, starting from #12 and building up to the exciting climax - my best picture of 2008!

Arizona in Stone : Arizona has some of the most recognizable and photographed locations in the world. The Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Antelope Canyon and Horshoe Bend are all true icons of the natural world. There are also some incredibly beautiful unknown spots tucked into the remote recesses of reservation land and other natural areas which rival any of the famous locations for beauty.

Utah's National Parks : Southern Utah is home to five of our most beautiful and famous National Parks. Arches and Canyonlands are on the east side of the state, Zion and Bryce are more to the west and the lesser-known Capitol Reef lies in the middle.

Flagstaff & N. Arizona : These are all within an hour of my home. Flagstaff is situated in the San Francisco Peaks in Northern Arizona. The elevation in the city itself is around 7000 feet, the highest point in the area is Mount Humphreys at 12,637 feet. Unlike much of the rest of Arizona, the Flagstaff area has four seasons - there's even a ski resort in The Peaks. It's really nice to sleep in my own bed, shoot pictures of scenery like this and be home in time for dinner.

Coyote Buttes & The White Pocket : Coyote Buttes is a small area on the border between Arizona and Utah. It is psychedelic nature - the shapes, colors and patterns here are from another planet. The North Section is more accessible and contains "The Wave". The South section is very remote and dificult to access but is, in my opinion, more spectacular. The White Pocket is almost completely inaccesible and is one of the most bizarre spots I've ever seen.

The Grand Staircase : Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument is 1.9 million acres of untamed wilderness that straddles the Utah/Arizona border. There are few trails or paved roads, most of the area appears just as it was thousands of years ago.

Planet Utah : Southern Utah's beautiful alien landscape is not limited to the National Parks. Her is some jaw-dropping scenery from some of rthe lesser-known locations.

Desert Beauty : There are four major deserts in the Southwestern United States - the Mohave, Sonoran, Chihuahuan and The Great Basin. While there certainly are plenty of sand dunes and high temperatures in these areas, there are also a lot flowers, mountains and even snow.

Mountain Scenery : I haven't spent nearly as much time in the mountains as I have in the desert. I have visited Yellowstone, The Rockies, The Cascades and Sierras briefly and I live in The San Francisco Peaks (see the Northern Arizona gallery).

The Good Ol' Midwest : I lived in the Midwest, more precisely Illinois, for the first 44 years of my life. I moved to Flagstaff, AZ in April 2007 but the Midwest will always be my home.
